Book Tour & Author Interview: WOLF GONE WILD by JULIETTE CROSS

Wolf Gone Wild

Written by: Juliette Cross

What's the worst thing that can happen to a werewolf? Unable to shift for three months, Mateo Cruz knows all too well. His wolf has taken up residence in his head, taunting him night and day with vividly violent and carnal thoughts. Convinced he's cursed, he needs the help of a powerful witch before he literally goes insane.

Evie Savoie has always obeyed the house rules of her coven--no werewolves. They're known for being moody and volatile. So, when a distempered, dangerous werewolf strolls into the bar and almost strangles one of her late-night customers, she's ready to bounce him through the door. But the desperation in his eyes when he begs her to help him softens her heart and convinces her to bend the rules.

What Evie doesn't know is that Mateo's wolf has a mind of his own. And now that she's in his sights, he wants only one thing. Her.

What was the inspiration behind Wolf Gone Wild?

I knew that I wanted a series that had more humor and that surrounded the love and mayhem of tight-knit sisters. I also had never written a werewolf/shifter as the hero before, so I set out to tackle that challenge. The biggest difference was changing the tone from my norm of dark/gritty PNR to a contemp/romcom vibe. And I'm loving every minute of it.

What strategies do you use to develop your characters so effectively? Do you have a tracking system for details?

I actually do keep a "book bible" of all my character's traits, physical and otherwise. I'd be lost without it. (Thank you to my partner-in-crime Jessen at Smart Women Read Romance podcast who started that for me and keeps me straight.)

What steps did you take to launch this book?

Honestly, there were too many to name. All authors launch differently. What I can tell you is that having a detailed plan is key and sometimes you have to experiment to see what works best.

How do you go about planning a series?

It can take months to properly plan a full series. I took notes on Wolf Gone Wild and the Stay a Spell world for close to a year before I ever wrote a word of chapter one. Allowing myself the proper amount of time for my muse to create is crucial.

What value do you see in social engagement as an author?

I think it's very valuable to be genuine and professional when engaging with readers. Just as it's equally important for the author to manage his/her time wisely when it comes to social media. Otherwise, you could spend all of your time engaging and none of it actually writing. Balance is key.
