Bio

Shay has released a novel called 'Wolf of Choice' which is the first in a YA fantasy trilogy, and she is currently working on book two. Her story ‘Aquaria’ features in the Aquarius Zodiac Anthology by Aussie Speculative Fiction (Deadset Press). She also has a title in Stories of Hope by Aussie Speculative Fiction, a bushfire relief anthology.

Shay has been a lover of books since she was a kid and could be seen at age three using her finger to follow along with words. Shay’s love of reading continued to grow throughout her youth and you could frequently find her in the school library and, once she could drive, the local bookshops! Her favourite series include the Harry Potter series by J. K. Rowling, the Throne of Glass series by Sarah J. Maas and the Merry Gentry novels by Laurell K. Hamilton. Now, as a mother of two young girls, she enjoys sharing her love of reading with them, often reading stories like Piranhas Don’t Eat Bananas by Aaron Blabey and Monstersaurus by Claire Freedman and Ben Cort.

Shay’s first published piece was in a book called Animal Kingdom from a short-story competition for primary school students, with a tale titled ‘A Home for a Fish Family’. Since then, she has continued to develop her creativity through words and illustrations, which she now shares with her students in her career as a school teacher.
Shay has a Bachelor of Education (Primary) from Australian Catholic University, and is a graduate of the Australian Writers' Centre (How to Write for Children and Young Adults, Writing Picture Books and Novel Writing Essentials). She is a member of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI).

Shay also spends her time providing beta reads, editing and studying psychology! If you'd like to get in touch with Shay about any of her work or available services please visit the Contact page.
